Know before you Go – Link info Add-Ons

Allow me to introduce two of my recently added favorite Firefox addons. McAfee’s Site Advisor and Interclue.

Site Advisor is a must have Firefox Add-On that provides link ratings to search results. For example, if you do a Google search for “Free Screensavers” there is a good chance that you could be stumble upon some unsavory adware sites. How do you know which sites are legitimate and which should be avoided? SiteAdvisor provides a rating system that integrates with the search results to quickly help you make an informed decision. Install the Add-On and try it for yourself, you’ll be glad you did.

Interclue – Simply put, this Add-On provides “Clueviews” that show you relevant information about a link when you hover over the link. However, this is not like other link previews you may have seen before. The difference is “Clueviews show you actual main body text, rather than a cached image (like Bettersearch), or the entire page (like Cooliris, or Browster), or a few sentences (like iReader)”

* Shows titles & main body text from linked HTML pages
* Shows size and date information for other filetypes
* Displays the favicon of any link and has icons for 28 different filetypes.
* Checks for dead links and other errors.
* Shows date information for most pages.
* Shows thumbnails for some URLs, showing you a small image of the site.

I found both of these quite useful and you can find them both at my Firefox Add-On’s page.

    Hey, Tsu,

If you like Interclue, check out Snap Shots Add-On. It summarizes RSS feeds and Wikipedia articles, plays videos in line, shows photo albums, and a lot more. You can find it at
