Free Backup Software

I was reading Chris Pirillo’s blog when I saw his video on backup software in which he recommended using the open source software BackupPC. It sounds great and from looking at the BackupPC site I was definitely interested.

“BackupPC is a high-performance, enterprise-grade system for backing up Linux, WinXX and MacOSX PCs and laptops to a server’s disk. BackupPC is highly configurable and easy to install and maintain.”

Sign me up, let’s give it a shot…. um one problem, when I followed the links to download the software (link), I find an html guide and tarball. Where is the exe for Windows? None to be found. The FAQ was worthless and from the html guide it appears that I need to be a nix guru to make it work. I’m disappointed to say the least.

If any of you have some guidance please feel free to drop me a line. Otherwise I stick to some other solutions like Mozy, Simply Safe Backup, BackUpMyPC($$), or Windows NTbackup.
